This Year's Model Updates:

Only minor changes are made to Chevrolet's bread-and-butter Silverado pickup for 2002. Some options packages have been revamped for easier ordering and all extended-cab models now come standard with a four-speed automatic transmission, with the manual no longer available.

Pros:
  • Roomy extended cab models, strong V8 engines, available composite bed, disc brakes at all four corners, optional traction control.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, sketchy build quality.

  • Good stuff - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Not into the overstyling of the Ford or Dodge. Like the Toyota but the Chevy had the biggest ext cab. Very impressed with the heated leather and the controls. Plenty of power with the 5.3 and I would worry about the tranny if it had more power. The limited slip comes with LTs but I wouldnt get any P/up without it. Too much power to the rear and it would be worthless in the rain. Awesome with the limited slip.

  • Perfect truck - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This truck is great for any young teenager looking for a first truck. If you want something fun fast with good handling then this is your truck. Sure it may have a little clunk in the transmission buut eh a little issue.

  • Not for Cold Climates - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Its ok I guess. Fuel line freezes regardless of amt. of gas in the tank. Gas anti-freeze doesnt even help. Limited slip rear end gets stubborn in cold weather.

  • 208K and Keeps on going - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Bought from surveying company with 205K. Truck plowed through mud and snow till I got it. Runs perfect. Shifts like it should and engine, tranny and rear are all original. Everything works and nothing squeaks. Great truck, nothing fancy - manual windows and locks and bench seats but its comfortable, quiet for a truck and goes great in mud and snow. Company I bought from routinely runs 6-8 of these all to 200K plus and they love em.

Great looking and a nice interior for athe base Silverado. Does the job of getting me back and forth to work at the dealership. Have added a few "custom options" to dress it up

  • excellent - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I purchased the vehicle in 2004 with 15,000 miles from original owner. I have had no problems with this vehicle. This vehicle is our first choice to use on long trips because of its comfortable ride. Its more like drive a luxury vehicle than what you typical expect from a truck ride.

This turck is an overall good truck. It has plenty of room to fit my family of 6 with room to spare. Very quiet on the road and a smooth ride. The radio is great too. A real powerful towing truck for a half ton, i pull a 32 camping trailer that is well over 8000lbs and the truck handles it pretty well.

  • Good so far - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

It doesnt have many miles, so quality hasnt been tested very much, but my 1998 Monte Carlo is the best vahicle Ive ever had. Even better than the 2 Toyotas I had. The Tundra was too narrow for a person with long legs and the styling of the F150 didnt do anything for me. Only time will tell how well the truck holds up.

  • Like My Chevy - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Truck has run well since purchase. Only problem was weak window motors that were replaced after two years. Basic maintenance and it runs just fine. Piston slap is annoying in extremely cold temperatures until it warms up, but that normally goes away after 30 seconds.

110% do it all truck no matter weather or conditions, small load or large, with no worries. All around truck. Comfort. Hard worker. If you want a gentle beast, why would anyone throw away their money on any other?
